“Paul Robeson”

It Happened Here via YouTube

From video description:

Paul Robeson (1898-1976) was both an internationally renowned actor and singer and an activist for civil rights. Born in Princeton, he attended Rutgers University where he was a football All-American and the class valedictorian. He went on to Columbia Law before beginning his acting career. He starred in “Othello” on Broadway and movies including “Showboat” and “Emperor Jones.” Robeson stood up for workers and the oppressed, and embraced sometimes unpopular causes such as the Spanish Civil War. He was blacklisted during the McCarthy era, and his career never fully recovered.
